[M] win Fnatic PLAY RaidCall ShootMania Cup

Millenium win PLAY

Two full evenings of ShootMania action are over, the Fnatic PLAY RaidCall ShootMania Cup #1 has concluded.

After the first day had concluded, of which you can find the write-up here, the second day arrived with two semi finals, a consolation final and of course the grand final.

The first semi final was Eclypsia versus Millenium. We had some delays, as aKm was home later than expected, but it gave the teams time to set up and thanks to a good schedule it didn’t bring any problems. The first map was the map by Kryw, Paladin. This was Eclypsia’s map of choice and we soon saw shouts by aKm that he had never played it before. But this soon appeared to be a trick, as Millenium came up with some funky tactics to surprise the Dutch, beating them in overtime with seven to five. The second map was Crossroads, which again proved to be very close. Attacking rounds were won by both sides, but eventually Millenium came out strongest, winning with 6-4 and taking the map in two to nil overall, heading into the grand final.

In the second semi final it was the International Millenium team versus PyRo|GEN. Both teams appeared very strong in their previous matches, beating some top teams. However, Fortress, the first map, was very one sided, with Av3k, Cypher and keep3r (Millenium.Int) taking a 6-1 score. The second map proved to be a bit closer, but still the Quake legends were too strong, taking Crossroads with 6-2. This meant a Millenium grand final, and Eclypsia and PyRo|GEN battling for third place.

The third place decided was won by Eclypsia after two close maps, meaning the Dutch side took home 50$. PyRo|GEN took the honors which come with their placing just beside the podium.

The grand final was rocked with some delays due to some friendly folks DDoS’ing the server. After changing servers, the sides went head to head in a Best-of-5 clash. Crossroads was the first map to be played and points went both ways, with the attacking side being the favored by the two. But after both teams came on three points each, the French Millenium side pulled off, taking it 6-3. Map two was Collided and once again proved to be close. Eventually, the French side once again winning it, by the maximum score, without going to overtime, of 6-4. The deciding map ended up being TheCastle, with Millenium France going ahead with some crazy defense tactics, eventually winning it with 6-4, taking the game with 3-0 overall.

This means the final standings are:

  • 1. France Millenium France ($300)
  • 2. Belarus Millenium International ($150)
  • 3. Netherlands Eclypsia ($50)
  • 4. France PyRo|GEN
  • 5-8. United Kingdom Team Dignitas
  • 5-8. Germany Gamers League
  • 5-8. United States Big Balled Gentlemen
  • 5-8. Germany Epsilon

Thanks to all teams for attending. Most teams showed great sportsmanship! Congratulations to Millenium for having two teams in the grand final as well.
